1/2008 - Present Intercom Federal Systems Washington, DC

Senior Systems Engineer

On Directory Services Team, supporting the efforts of consolidation of the U.S. Department of States various IRM branches under one management office. Primary responsibilities include analysis and configuration of the monitoring of DoS global domain controllers with NetIQ Appmanager Suite, in addition to implementation and management of the HP Systems Insight Management system. I also assist in the management of the Veritas Backup Exec backup system for the DCs. I am also actively testing the implementation of Advanced iLO to all servers. Only minor actual Active Directory management responsibilities at this time.

12/2007 – 1/2008 Unisys/TSM Solutions, Inc Arlington, VA

System Engineer

Primary member of Enterprise Solutions Monitoring team for the Transportation Security Authority (TSA). Utilize a variety of applications to uphold the continued accurate monitoring of all possible states of the TSA servers in their respective data centers. Responsibilities include the upkeep of the servers that the applications reside upon, the implementation of customer profiles for monitoring, creating, verifying, and presenting SLA reports, training of the Tier 1 & 2 in the use of the monitoring tools, and the day-to-day maintenance of the monitoring applications. Key figure in all aspects of the project for implementation of a monitoring profiles creation process for all the system-owners in the TSA environment. The Enterprise Solutions Monitoring environment is currently being re-built by the new team, guided by our design recommendations and implementation.

11/2006 – 12/2007 Keane, Inc Washington, DC

Principal Consultant

Worked on a team of LAN Administrators supporting the Enterprise Systems Operations Center (ESOC) at the State Department. Highly involved in a major project integrating smaller bureaus of the State Department systems into our enterprise structure. Other projects include design, planning, and build-up of a Miami NAP for disaster recovery, overhaul and upgrade of Tivoli data infrastructure, and day-to-day support of the ESOC in server maintenance and related duties. Also involved in occasional work supporting the media network for the State Department, streaming video to desktops. Infrastructure also houses multiple VMWare ESX servers running about a hundred virtual servers that requires maintenance and administration at both the child and parent server level. Primary support provider for NetIQ Appmanager needs.


06/2006 – 11/2006 FOWGroup, Inc Arlington, VA

Senior System Engineer/Analyst

Assigned to The Office of the Secretary of Defense, CIO-EOST, member of Projects Team and Migration Team. Acts as Senior SMS technician/architect; supporting the current infrastructure and to-be infrastructure; plans and executes system upgrades; researches, consults, and fulfills identified requirements, coordinates support. Applies learned knowledge to various IT engineering projects assigned to each team, both NIPR and SIPR, which range from technical, physical, immediate, and/or long range goals. Administers to the stability and health of the OSD network. Performs network administration tasks as required.

2002–06/2006 Northrop Grumman Washington, DC

Senior LAN Administrator
Worked on site at the State Department IRM office. Responsible for overseeing all LAN-related activities, including AD-account creation/management, Exchange-account creation/management and file/print server management. Team lead for planning, integration and maintenance of all new server-level applications to the enterprise. Team lead on all SMS-related projects. Primary Engineer for the migration of SMS software deployments and AD Group Policies software deployments. Developed custom-made SMS packages for deployments. Planned, organized, and executed all network migrations from Windows NT to Active Directory, to include workstations, file and print services, email, and user accounts. Task lead in the email system migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. Lead engineer in the planning, deployment, and management of multiple clustered servers connected to an MSA1000 SAN. Managed creation and implementation of server and desktop images with Norton Ghost. Managed configuration change requests for all network operations and new requirements. Lead administrator for Citrix Metaframe server providing support to all remote customers. Custodian for Netapp F85. Utilized VMWare for testing of application deployments and for future server implementation. Worked directly under State Department Systems Architect in an advisory position. Formalized procedures and documents for future administrators. Generated report statistics and project status to present to upper management on all team activities. Regularly met with vendors to assess potential new software and/or hardware solutions for environment. Worked in a team environment across multiple layers of the State Department IRM office. Daily interaction with the customer via meetings and task assignments, as well as with the end user on trouble ticket resolution.

2002–2001 Thruport Technologies Alexandria, VA

Lead Unix Administrator

Responsible for maintenance and installation of server farm of over 200 servers running Unix, Linux, Windows NT, and Windows 2000. Oversaw customer support for software development team and training of new employees in the support department. Provided technical support for custom applications developed by in-house developers in addition to local support for desktop PCs. Was responsible for upkeep of HP Proliant, EMC, and Cobalt hardware. Worked with BIND, Sendmail, Apache, and Qpopper in addition to other Unix applications to support local network. Beta-tested ‘bleeding edge’ hardware/software.

1998–2001 Ezy.Net Salisbury, MD

Network Administrator

Lead network administrator of a large ISP with over 4000 customers. Managed all aspects of ISP servers & services including WWW, Mail, News, Dial-Up, ISDN, Wireless and many others. Major decision-maker in future of company & played roles in future design of architecture. Planned, coordinated, deployed the first wireless Wi-Fi ISP service offered to customers in the DelMarVa/Tri-State area; Provided for end user setup and support. Trained and managed all support technicians. Additionally provided PR activities.

Managed all Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians supporting the ICNet network. Assisted with rapidly adapting needs as customer base grew from 1000+ users to 4000+. Was intimately familiar with all aspects of server and desktop administration. Prepared and authored all documents and procedures for the network, to include new user procedures, network standards, and training material. Trained all incoming technicians in policies and procedures.
